“The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974” allows people who have been convicted of certain criminal offences to regard their convictions as “Spent” after a lapse of a period of years. This means that no reference needs to be made to convictions or any circumstances relating to it. Because of the nature of the work for which you are applying however this post has been excepted from the provisions of the Act and you are therefore required not to withhold information about convictions which for other purpose are spent under the Provision of the Act. Failure to disclose important information may disqualify you from appointment or lead to summary dismissal. I must therefore ask you to disclose any criminal offence, inclusive of driving convictions, of which you have been convicted and authorise your name being out through the checking system operated by Disclosure Scotland. If selected for a position, Rossie will check your details against the police records held by Disclosure Scotland prior to an offer of employment. The disclosure of a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from appointment unless the selection panel considers that the conviction renders you unsuitable for appointment. Have you ever been convicted of a criminal offence (inclusive of driving convictions)? Required
