Maintenance Officer (fixed term to 07 June 2026)

This is a fixed term contract to 07 June 2026.
Hours: 37 per week
Salary: £26,674 - £30,926 (SCP 18 - 25)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To maintain the essential building services to Rossie in order to meet health and safety standards or any other related regulations. To work under the direction of the Service Manager, Business and Facilities, regarding maintenance and upkeep required within the organisation.
Responsible for the maintenance of Rossie’s buildings, systems, equipment, vehicles, plant and associated areas:
- Respond to requests to carry out maintenance or repairs to the buildings and services including carpentry, plumbing and glazing works
- Order and store materials to keep onsite stocks to meet demand
- Escort and advise contractors as necessary
- Carry out all works in conjunction with maintenance colleagues at the direction of the Service Manager, Business and Facilities (SMB&F)
- Monitor the building’s management system, maintain essential records and address highlighted faults
- Attend learning and development courses relevant to duties and where directed by Rossie
- Monitor, on a regular basis, the boilers (Main building, Forth House, McDonald Building/School), swimming pool heating and equipment, sewage plant equipment, ventilation plant, emergency generator and vehicles, and conduct repairs as required
- Ensure works requiring contractors are reported to the SMB&F, and actions to remedy any failure or fault are agreed and implemented
Vehicle Fleet:
- Ensure vehicles are maintained and serviced as per manufacturer’s schedules, completing weekly monitoring and checks, and all necessary measures to ensure the vehicle fleet is in full working order
- Other driving duties as required to assist management
Health and Safety work including safety checks to buildings, equipment, plant and vehicles:
- Monitor, record and adjust pH levels of swimming pool water, ensuring the pools cleanliness, safety and hygiene is maintained
- Carry out electrical portable equipment tests to new items and cyclical tests to all existing equipment
- Ensure Rossie vehicles are fully and properly maintained including regular checks to tyres, wiper fluid, lights and brakes
- All works to be carried out in liaison with maintenance colleagues and the SMB&F
Emergency Response
- To be the first point of contact in the event of plant, equipment, or system breakdown; or damage that requires an emergency repair. This may involve out of hours work in order to maintain the viability, safety and security of the business
