Rossie is a multi-award winning, trauma informed child and youth care organisation that provides the highest quality experience for young people. We are looking to recruit Casual Care Workers to provide care and support to young people in a safe and stimulating setting ensuring we cater for their physical, emotional, social, health and educational needs.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
You will assist in the provision of a safe, caring environment for our young people in Rossie:
(a) Ensure that the rights of the young person are safeguarded and that they are treated with respect and dignity;
(b) Ensure appropriate standards within which young people can feel safe and protected from harm;
(c) Assist with the establishment and maintenance of good basic care which includes safe, comfortable surroundings, high standards of personal care and good food, helping to establish consistent daily routines;
(d) Help in the monitoring of the young people’s health needs and within Rossie guidelines actively encourage the avoidance of health risks and the development of a healthy life style;
(e) Plan and positively engage the young people in a range of planned stimulating activities;
(f) Encourage youngsters to make the most of all the educational/learning opportunities available with the 24 hour curriculum.
You will provide effective communication and work collaboratively with others in the best interest of the young person:
(a) Actively participate in interdisciplinary teamwork amongst the adults providing for the young people’s care, education and health needs, including the parents;
(b) Advise the Team Leader or Duty Manager of significant matters affecting the care of young people;
(c) Establish and maintain the trust of one’s immediate manager;
(d) Identify and minimise inter-personal conflict by helping to create an open, honest and friendly atmosphere and allowing opportunities for colleagues to discuss problems;
(e) Such other duties as may be required for the effective running of the unit.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Knowledge Base (Essential):
- Child Care Legislation;
- Children (Scotland) Act 1995;
- Care Planning;
- Intervention Models for Children and Families.
Knowledge Base (Desirable):
- LAC materials knowledge;
- Cognitive behavioural skills;
- Child Development;
- Child Protection.
Qualifications (Essential):
- HNC & SVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care; or ability to successfully undertake and complete the award through Rossie Learning Partnership within the specified timescales.
Qualifications (Desirable):
- Dip Social Work;
- CQSW;
- CSS.
Experience (Essential):
- Residential Care.
Experience (Desirable):
- Youth work and Child Care.
Skills (Essential):
- Care Planning (formulation and implementation);
- Assessment and needs analysis;
- Good Communication;
- Advocacy and representation on behalf of young people;
- Relationship building;
- Liaison/Networking;
- Intervention with young people and their families;
- Appropriate record keeping.
Skills (Desirable):
- Leisure/Recreational Skills (qualifications);
- Ability to drive all Rossie vehicles as required;
